Behind the triclinium was a richly decorated fountain, which hid the water reservoir of the fountain in the centre of the triclinium.
In the middle of the Nymphaeum, while the central niche received perhaps a purely decorative statuette, it was not used as fountain mouth, since it lacked the necessary basin in front and there was no trace of the passage of a lead pipe from behind tank/reservoir through the niche.
