Part 1 Part 2
Wallace-Hadrill described this as a single-roomed shop, with stairs up, with no decoration.
See Wallace-Hadrill, A., 1994. Houses and Society in Pompeii and Herculaneum. New Jersey: Princeton U.P. (p.206)
According to Camardo and Notomista, reconstructed here is the wooden ceiling of the mezzanine with respect of the ancient structure of the supporting beams, but setting them up to a higher level than originally, since in the sockets were preserved the carbonised remains of the original beams.

According to Guidobaldi, in the south-east corner was a well to draw water from the cistern fed by the impluvium of the Casa del Salone Nero, which would exclude the existence of a separate property, and as such this shop originally would have been a room in part of that house.

As described by Camardo and Notomista, the reconstructed beams for the ceiling are set higher in the wall, because of the carbonised remains of the original beams set below.
