Herculaneum V.2. Steps to upper floor of V.1.

Ins. V.2 and 1 on south side of Cardo IV Superiore, at junction with Decumanus Inferiore, on right. May 2010. According to Maiuri,
“The open gallery that overhangs the porch and runs along the whole façade is due, as is the case for the neighbouring House with the wooden screen/Casa del tramezzo di legno, to a later extension of the upper floor, when by means of the adjoining entrance at V.2 and steep wooden steps, the rooms above the main doorway were detached from the rest of the house, forming a small apartment to let”.
