Uncut loaf of carbonised bread with stamped inscription. The loaf of bread had a stamp “Property of Celer, slave of Q. Granius Verus”.

According to Pagano and Prisciandaro on 5th October 1748, an entire loaf of carbonised bread was found, with a mark that contained these letters –

[C]eleris Q(uinti) Grani

Now in Naples Archaeological Museum, inventory number 84596.

The footnote 163 states see also the seal found 15th May 1755, CIL X 8058,18, “belonging to Celer, slave of Q. Granius Verus’.

The seal is actually in the Antiquarium Comunale of Celio at Rome.
